Mentoring for a better relationship with tech

We can't always change the online world. But it can help to become aware of how it shapes us.

We're living in a time where our attention has become one of our most valuable resources. Every day we're exposed to thousands of opinions, advertisements, algorithms and carefully curated versions of other people's lives. Even when we put our phones down, the impact of everything we've consumed stays with us.

Creative mentoring isn't about rejecting technology or telling you to delete social media. It's about becoming more intentional in your relationship with it. Together, we'll explore how the constant flow of information influences your thoughts, emotions, creativity and sense of self, creating space to reconnect with your own values and ideas.

The goal isn't to escape the modern world. It's to make sure your inner voice doesn't get lost within it, then you can also actually choose the technology to engage with based on who you are, and your needs.

*person centred means working in a way that suits the client, not vice-versa.

Hi I’m Amy (and this is Vinnie), here’s why this matters to me

I grew up in the 1980s, before smartphones, social media and the internet became part of everyday life. Looking back, I feel incredibly lucky to have experienced childhood in a world where boredom was normal, creativity happened naturally, and connection wasn't mediated through a screen.

Of course, life wasn't perfect back then. But we faced our challenges in a more analogue world, where there was space to think, daydream and simply be.

As technology has become woven into every aspect of our lives, I've noticed just how easy it is to lose touch with ourselves. Not because technology is inherently bad, but because our attention is constantly being pulled outwards. The more we consume, the harder it can become to hear our own thoughts, recognise our own values, or even notice how we're really feeling.

I saw this in my own life. As social media became a bigger part of my world, I also noticed my mental health beginning to deteriorate. Looking back, I don't believe technology caused my struggles, but it certainly amplified them. It gave me endless opportunities to distract myself, avoid difficult emotions and seek answers everywhere except within myself.

Through my own therapy, counselling training and years of exploring creativity, I've come to believe that the answer isn't to reject technology or disappear on a digital detox. Technology is part of modern life, and it brings incredible opportunities. The challenge is learning how to live alongside it without losing ourselves in the process.

That's why Find A Creative Mind isn't about escaping the digital world. It's about helping people build a healthier relationship with it. One where there's still room for curiosity, creativity, boredom, rest and the quieter parts of ourselves that technology so often drowns out.

What is Creative Mentoring for better tech relationships?

Creative mentoring combines person-centred principles with creativity as a way of thinking, rather than simply something we do. In a world of constant notifications, algorithms and endless information, it can become increasingly difficult to separate our own thoughts, values and emotions from everything we're consuming. Over time, we can lose touch with the quieter inner voice that helps us understand who we are and what really matters to us.

Creative mentoring creates space to step back from that constant external influence. Together, we'll explore how technology is shaping your attention, relationships, creativity and emotional wellbeing, while gently reconnecting with your own curiosity, values and intuition. My aim isn't to encourage a digital detox or reject technology altogether, but to help you develop a healthier, more intentional relationship with it, so technology supports your life rather than quietly directing it.

Some of my specialisms

  • A person sitting in a grassy field with rolling hills and a clear sky in the background.

    Neurodivergent minds

Whether you've recently received a diagnosis, suspect you may be neurodivergent, or are beginning to understand yourself through a new lens, these sessions offer a space to explore how your mind works. Together, we'll focus on acceptance, regulation, and building a life that works with your strengths rather than against them.

  • Silhouette of a person running along a beach with a bright sun or sunset in the background.

    Navigating menopause

Menopause often brings much more than physical symptoms. It can spark questions around identity, confidence, relationships and what’s next. I provide space to make sense of the changes you're experiencing, reconnect with yourself, and navigate this transition with greater clarity, compassion, and self-trust.

  • Person taking a selfie outdoors at sunset with a cityscape in the background.

    Putting down your phone

Many of us feel trapped between wanting to be present and constantly reaching for our phones. Together, we'll explore your relationship with technology, what might be driving those habits, and how to create more space for rest and connection without feeling like you have to disconnect from modern life completely.

  • A young boy with a serious expression, sitting back with one arm resting behind his head

    Creative career slump

Working in creative industries can be inspiring, but it can also leave you feeling depleted, pressured, or disconnected from the reasons you started creating in the first place. Together, we'll explore ways to reduce overwhelm, navigate perfectionism, and reconnect with curiosity, confidence, and a more sustainable creative practice.
